Rakshabandhan – Janmashtami
રક્ષાબંધન (શ્રાવણ સુદ પૂનમ) ભાઈ-બહેનના પ્રેમનું પ્રતીક છે. ગુજરાતમાં આ દિવસે બહેનો પોતાના ભાઈને રાખડી બાંધે છે અને ભાઈ તેમની રક્ષા કરવાનું વચન આપે છે. આ તહેવાર શુભ પ્રસંગ છે અને તેને વધુ મીઠો અને ખાસ બનાવવા માટે મીઠાઈ અને ભેટસોગાદની આપલે થાય છે.
જન્માષ્ટમી (ભાદરવા વદ આઠમ) સમગ્ર ભારતમાં ભગવાન કૃષ્ણના જન્મોત્સવ તરીકે ઉજવાય છે. પરંપરાગત સાતમ-આઠમ ઉત્સવની ઉજવણી ભજન-કીર્તન-પૂજનાદિ કર્મોને કારણે વ્રત અને ઉપવાસનો મહિમા હોય છે, અને ફરાળની વાનગીઓ લેવામાં આવે છે.
Paryushan Jain festival પર્યુષણ જૈન ધર્મનો સૌથી મોટો અને પવિત્ર તહેવાર છે, જેને ‘પર્વાધિરાજ’ કહે છે. તે આઠ કે દસ દિવસ સુધી ચાલે છે. આ સમયમાં આત્મશુદ્ધિ, ઉપવાસ, અને ક્ષમાપના (ક્ષમાયાચના) કરવામાં આવે છે. Paryushana is an annual holy event in Jainism. Jains increase their level of spiritual intensity, often using fasting and prayer/meditation to help.
